Yasmin Salman, 22, had spent many hours in the water after coming home from work on March 19. She’d done push-ups and some body-building exercises when the water began to fill the cabin, which had full windows that could serve as windows into the water and so would allow her to get out of the cabin without opening the windows.

Salman was wearing a pair of shorts that went well below the ankles and a black top, and she had a pair of sneakers on.

Salman called 911 and told dispatchers she was out of her swimming trunks, although she was wearing a pair of underpants, and she was walking on a leash. Her legs were visible, and her chest could be seen.

The dispatcher told her that she could walk into the water and she had to keep her legs from bumping into anything. She could only be pushed as well. She asked for oxygen, saying she wanted to stay breathing, but then told the operator, “I’m fine.”

Salman could not respond to the dispatcher’s questions.

By the time emergency workers arrived, the water had filled to her knees and chest, and the water had begun to rush up her legs, up her arms and onto her head.

By then, she was out of a backpack that held the trunks and was wearing her normal swimsuit. Salman said she wanted to stay and breathe while they worked on her, so she got back into her trunks and waited.

But she quickly realized that they couldn’t keep her out of the water long enough to rescue her. Police arrived, and several officers asked if Salman planned to jump into the water.

Salman, unable to answer questions, eventually said, “It’s not for you guys to worry about.”

Salman was then rescued from the water by police officer and Fire Department captain Michael Zalewski, who is a rescue swimmer before entering the water, and the officers then pulled her to safety

She was taken to Harborview Medical Center. She was then taken home by her mother and friend. She said it was her first time in the water.

Salman’s friends are very protective of their young daughter. They said she has never even taken the plunge. They said they don’t even know what the water is like.

Salman said her parents have said that they don’t want her
